Jeff Cummins is an artist who has worked in graphic design, illustration, portraiture, and marketing. His more notable projects include the Thrillington and Wings over America album covers, as well as work for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Peter Gabriel. He was also commissioned to produce a portrait of Linda McCartney.
Jeff's career began when he won a competition run by British Television show Magpie, with a portrait of George Best. From 1970-1973 he attended art school, before joining a marketing company in London, in 1974. While there, he was commissioned by Felix Yen of Kung Fu Monthly, and the Dennis Group to produce three Bruce Lee paintings, as illustrations for the former magazine. Leaving the marketing company out of necessity in 1976, Jeff sought freelance work, eventually being hired by Brian Bolly, on behalf of Paul McCartney to produce the Thrillington album cover. Brian Bolly introduced Jeff to employees at Hipgnosis, who we cooperated with to produce illustrations for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, and Peter Gabriel. At the end of 1976 Paul and Linda McCartney commissioned the Wings Over America album cover, which Jeff helped to complete. Jeff is currently regularly employed in illustration, and product development for corporate media and musicians.
